First, France moved to ban child beauty pageants. Then, we found out that Toddlers and Tiaras is coming to an end. Is the kids' beauty pageant reign of terror over?
While TLC won't actually tell you that the show is over, it will tell you that it's not currently casting...which to those of us who understand how reality TV works, means that it's over.
I don't disagree with the network's decision to end Toddlers and Tiaras. I used to watch the show, but got pretty burnt out after the controversial Sterling family and the unfair parenting of Braxton and Alaska. And while the show used to be novel, now every episode is pretty much like watching a re-run of a previous one, while switching out the name of the pageant and the names of some of the kids.
I'm sure some people will miss the show, and some parents are cursing the network for not featuring their kids before the show's demise, but I think we can do a little bit better with whatever fills the show's TV spot...maybe something with a tiny bit of educational value, perhaps?
