I'm Beginning to Question Maci Bookout's Judgment

Maci shows off her new body
I've been a Maci Bookout fan since I saw her on 16 and Pregnant. However, I've started to question whether being a fan was justified, as she seems to be making some questionable decisions that I've overlooked until now.

Let's take a step back to the beginning. First of all, Maci Bookout is famous for getting pregnant at sixteen years old. Should we really be rewarding this kind of behavior with fame and fortune? Between Maci, the other Teen Mom girls and Bristol Palin, it seems like all a teenager has to do to earn her fame these days is get pregnant and seek out an opportunity to appear on reality TV. But this is not the point.

Maci named her child with the name of a car, followed by a girl's name. (It's Bentley Cadence, in case you weren't aware.) If you search the name Cadence on Babynamer.com, it's all girl. Like, not debatable or unisex - all girl. And Bentley is best known for being a car name. Sure, it's actually a real name, meaning grass clearing. Wow, really? That's not exactly a great meaning either. And if you want to get more into the origin of names, Cadence means balanced, and I highly doubt that Bentley will grow up completely balanced after being raised on television. Just saying.

The tattoo has since been colored in
Maci is now covered in tattoos. While I fully respect tattoos, less is more. Or, more is more, if the tattoos are good and appropriately placed. But on Maci, I'm not a fan. One of my pet peeves about tattoos is when you need to see the whole tattoo to understand the message, but in most clothes, you see less than half. Maci's full back tattoo definitely fits that criteria. There are pictures of her looking awesome in fancy dresses, until she turns around for the picture of her back and you see the tip of a tattoo peeking out from above the fabric. Maci also didn't follow the less is more philosophy for her new breast implants. I guess if you're going to go for it, you should really go for it, but Maci may have gone a little too far when she went for it. If she's happy with her new body, good for her, but I don't know...I'm not convinced. And what's with the Teen Mom girls and breast implants and bad tattoos, anyway? Farrah Abraham joined Maci in the implant category, and Amber Portwood's a contender for the worst-Teen-Mom-tattoo competition. Both of them break the "Don't-put-your-kid's-face-or-name-too-close-to-your-naughty-bits" rule. It's just wrong.

Maci has discussed wanting another kid. For a girl who is clearly intelligent (although she may not always show it), this is an awful idea. Maci's finally getting back on track after moving away from Bentley's baby daddy Ryan Edwards to live with boyfriend Kyle King and dropping out of college. She's now back in her hometown, going to school and holding down a steady relationship with Kyle. She hardly adds to add another pregnancy into the mix. Plus, the girl is still young - her internal clock is barely ticking, let alone beeping furiously like an alarm clock. Another pregnancy can wait.

I will admit that I'm being a bit harsh here because Maci does have some really great qualities along with the messy ones. For example, she's becoming ambitious, and reportedly will be writing a book. (Then again, so did Snooki, so that doesn't say much.) She's also creating a stable life for Bentley by holding down a long-term relationship with Kyle and bettering herself by staying in school this time around. In addition, she's putting up with a lot of ex-boyfriend Ryan's BS without totally freaking out, so I have to give credit where credit is due. While some of Maci's decisions are questionable at best, she is a good mom to her kid and will hopefully put the baby making idea to the side for a while and focus on building a life for herself and Bentley.

All I have to say I agree for the most part, but she was also a teenager when most of these events happened...she's only 21 now so she probably just wants to hold on to the part of her that can remain a normal 21 year old rather then a mom, and everything she has done has never jeopardized her parenting. Not disagreeing with you, just encouraging you to keep an open mind.
